Orange Shirt Day Design: A Fashion Statement for a Cause

Orange Shirt Day Design: A Fashion Statement for a Cause

In the heart of Regina, a unique collaboration between Jarron Yee, owner of Northgate Medicine Shop Pharmacy, and local Indigenous artist and graphic designer, Justine "Tini" Stilborn, has given rise to a powerful initiative for Orange Shirt Day. This initiative,  for Every Child Matters #ECM introduces a special edition of orange shirts designed to support the Regina Indian Industrial School (RIIS) Commemorative Association.

For Yee, the project goes beyond the realms of business; it's a heartfelt endeavor to give back to the Indigenous community. The orange shirts, adorned with a beautiful design by Stilborn, serve as more than just a fashion statement – they are a symbol of unity and support for the community.

All proceeds from the sale of these vibrant shirts are dedicated to the RIIS Commemorative Association, a non-profit organization with a mission close to the hearts of Yee and Stilborn. To date, an impressive $4500 has been raised through the sale of these shirts, and the impact is resonating within the community.

Yee emphasizes the importance of community support, stating, "It was important for myself, being an Indigenous business owner, to give back to the community." The collaboration with Stilborn was a conscious decision to infuse local talent and Indigenous artistry into the project, making it a truly community-driven effort.

The call to action is clear: support the cause by purchasing these unique Orange Shirts, wear them with pride, and contribute to positive change in the community. The Orange Shirts with a Purpose campaign encourages individuals not only to make a fashion statement but also to be part of a movement that aims to create a wave of positive change.
