Bring out Your Geeks Podcast hosted me, Justine "Tini" Stilborn for a nerdy art talk! Bring out Your Geeks is a podcast that sits down with Saskatchewan-based artists and talks about their geeky hobbies and interests, hosted by Devon Dozlaw (G. B. Loon). BOYG is a way to get a deeper understanding and connection to artists by delving into the things they love often revealing information about the artists that inform their practices but is often missed in interviews and artist talks.

Devon sat down with me to discuss different types of e-comics, like Webtoon. We also talked about the various romance comics I enjoy like True Beauty and Lore Olympus, and I explained how Webtoons work for the consumer and the artist. We talked about customization and accessorizing in video games, digital hoarding, and about how it’s nice to have games that can help you relax. Devon and I shared our love for Munchkin as a goofy alternative to a Dungeons and Dragons in a one shot, and we embraced the Kingdom Hearts series as an audacious mash-up that is a beautiful mess. My favourite part was our discussion around the effect that nostalgia has on our personalities and perspectives, and how this affects consumerism. Devon listened to me discuss the elements of pop culture that influence my own artistic practice, and together we discussed the notion of high art versus low art, and the human compulsion to create things.
